Below is a quick-comparison list of the Eugene area moving companies, with their rates and the most helpful information about each company summarized next to each listing.   These are listed in order of the their percent of five star customer reviews across Google and Yelp, mitigated by other pros & cons that AGMC knows about each company.

Moving companies that provide their own company truck for transport are supposed to charge what is called the standard "tariff" rates and have the standard tariff set of policies for full service moving companies in the Eugene area, which is defined as follows:

 $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck, plus another $60.70/hr per extra man.   Overtime hours cost $203.25  per hour for two men and a truck, plus $84/hr per extra man.   On Sundays & Holidays it's $248.05 per hour for two men and a truck, plus $106.50/hr per extra man.   These rates start and end at the company's terminal, meaning the charged clock begins when they leave their warehouse, and ends when they arrive back at their warehouse after your job, adding about another half hour onto your charged time (past the time they're at your job sites).  Boxing & material supplies are an additional cost.  Unless you pay more for damage-loss insurance, the above rates only come with a damage-loss coverage of sixty (60) cents per pound of any lost or damaged article, which is the standard in the moving industry.  That works out to about $30 for your broken flat screen TV.   

When the term "standard tariff" is used in the below descriptions, these are the rates and policies being described.

However, moving services that are considered a "pack & load" service, meaning "labor only" with you paying separately for a rental truck if needed (usually near $80 for the day use of a small truck & gas or $120 for a large truck & gas) do not have their prices regulated, and so their hourly rates can be what ever the company decides to offer, but which is most commonly $55/hr per mover.    You will note that the Standard Tariff of $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck quickly adds up to far more than $55/hr. per mover + the truck cost, especially for longer jobs, making "pack & load" services potentially able to save you a lot of money off the full service option.

But the biggest thing that will save you money is getting a company that knows what they're doing, doesn't waste time, does good work, doesn't damage things, does compensate you fairly if they mess up, and who will be honest and reliable.   The better the company is at these things, in AGMC's opinion, the higher on the below provided list these companies are listed.  

Owned by Grant Garoutte, this small pack & load service has THE best customer feedback history I know of (besides my old record).   Their customers say they are reliable, professional, friendly, prompt, and they show up in uniform.   They offer a Satisfaction Guarantee, and always honor it. If they damage something they repair, replace, or compensate for it in full, at your valuation, immediately.  They have an excellent equipment set, provide doorway and floor protection, carpet protection film, and even booties if needed. They also have the best on-time record I know of. 

For labor only they are $55/hr per mover, with a two hour minimum.  With this company, you'd need to pay another $70 +gas for the whole day use of a small rental truck, or  $100 + gas for a large rental truck (for local jobs), plus reimbursement at cost for any packing materials used.   They start their clock when they arrive at your house and stop their clock when they're done moving your last item (for local jobs), subtracting break times.  They don't charge extra for weekends or overtime hours.   They are my TOP recommendation.

Owned by Vic & Loni, WDA is one of the best FULL SERVICE large moving companies in Eugene that I know of.  These guys have a reputation for doing good work and being reliable.   They charge the Standard Tariff ($156.60 per hour for two men and a truck), and have the standard tariff polices for damages and time counted on the clock.  They've also been in business for 24 years.  Their phone is 541 625-4679.   If you call them, please tell Vic that Phil referred you.

This is the only moving company I am listing that's from out of town, but I'm making this exception because this is the only moving company out of Portland Oregon that I have heard only good things about from many customers I've worked with, and there's lots of times people are looking for a good company up in Portland.

Meathead Movers is a FULL SERVICE company that officially has a Satisfaction Guarantee, although I've  heard indirectly (through the grape-vine) that they don't always honor it. Their reviews are mostly good, but their biggest drawback is that they use U of O student movers, which means they're less likely to know what they're doing.   This can waste time, and increase the risk of damages. They charge the Standard Tariff for the Eugene area.

Owned by Steve Hespen.  This Labor Only (pack & load) company usually works with nearly the best truck loader and most skilled mover I've ever seen in the entire moving industry, named Ron (pictured here).  This company is so far down the list mainly because Steve is having medical issues at this time that might detract from the quality of his work (and he's a bit old for this), and also because they've actually told me they aren't insured (at least they're honest), and I don't think they would be able to pay for any significant damages if they were to occur. 

  For labor only they are $55/hr per man, with a two hour minimum, along with you paying for the use of a small rental truck, + for whatever gas and supplies are used.  

Steve has asked AGMC to help book appointments for him, so if you call A Great Moving Crew (at 541 636-7386) and ask for "Hespen Enterprises", AGMC will reliably answer your call, and can set you up with an appoint with Steve's services directly.   But if you want to call Steve directly, his number is  541 870-0148.

CASCADE MOVING & LOGISTICS      

They have OK reviews online, but they have no Satisfaction Guarantee.   When you book them online you have to fill out a form, & pick how many hours you are reserving their services for, and how are you suppose to know how long you'd need them, and what if you guess too high or too low?  It seems like a hassle to me.

Owned by Zac Rivers.  Zac has been doing moving work as a laborer for many years, and I have heard some good things, but Zac is brand new on AGMC's list as a moving company, so little is known about them as a company so far.  For labor only they are $55/hr per man, with a two hour minimum, along with you paying separate rental truck costs and reimbursement at cost for whatever gas and moving supplies are used.    

Zac has asked AGMC (me, Phil) to help book appointments for him, so if you call A Great Moving Crew (Phil) at 541 636-7386 and say you're interested in booking an appointment with "Rivers Moving" or "Zac", AGMC will reliably answer your call, and can set you up with an appoint with Zac's services if you'd like. 

The rest of these below listed moving companies have relatively more reported problems compared to the other above listed companies, and they have no SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, so in my opinion, should be considered only as a last resort if the above listed companies aren't available.   One common complaint I've heard from customers about several of these lower listed companies is that at the very last minute the company needed to "cancel" leaving the customer hanging without help.

This one is at the very bottom of the list on purpose. I have just heard too many bad things about this company from several different customers who used them, largely involving a misrepresentation of the end resulting price, "missing" items, and poor work.  I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.
