QUICK COMPARISON LIST OF THE MAIN OTHER EUGENE AREA MOVING COMPANIES
Below is a quick-comparison list of the main other Eugene area moving companies, with their rates and the most helpful information about each company summarized next to each listing. These are listed in order of the their percent of five star customer reviews across Google and Yelp, mitigated by other pros & cons AGMC knows about each company. The better ranked companies are higher on the list.
If AGMC is not available on the day you need to do your move, or if one of these other Eugene moving companies is just a better fit for you than AGMC, you can book with one of these other moving companies instead of with AGMC. You can call your chosen company directly, or in some cases, where that company has asked AGMC to help book jobs for them, AGMC can answer any questions and book an appointment with them for you if you want. In this way, this page also can function as a free "open market listing and booking-help service".
Oregon Valley Coastal Movers
Owned by Grant Garoutte, this small company has The best customer feedback history I know of (besides my old record). Grant and his main helper Alex are very skilled and efficient, and you'd reliably get this particular known team (except Alex is off on weekends). They are reliable, professional, friendly, prompt, and they show up in uniform. They do offer a Satisfaction Guarantee, and always honor it. If they damage something they repair, replace, or compensate for it in full, at your valuation, right away before you pay their service fee. None of that "60 pennies per pound of the damaged item" small print that is the case with most other moving companies. They have a good equipment set, provide doorway and floor protection, carpet protection film, and even booties if needed. They also have the best on-time record I know of.
For labor only they are $55/hr per man, with a two hour minimum. With this company, you'd need to pay another $70 +gas for the whole day use of a small 17' truck, or $100 + gas for a large truck (for local jobs), plus reimbursement at cost for any consumed materials used. They DO start their clock when they arrive at your house and stop their clock when they're done moving your last item (for local jobs), subtracting break times. They don't charge more for weekends or overtime hours. When you calculate these cost savings and efficiency factors, these guys are the most reliable, cost effective, and best ways to go that I know of. They are my TOP recommendation.
Grant is usually working on a job site and not available to answer calls right away, so he has asked AGMC (me, Phil) to help book appointments for him. If you call A Great Moving Crew (Phil) at 541 636-7386 and say you'd like to book an appointment with "Oregon Valley Coastal Movers" or "Grant", AGMC (me, Phil) will reliably answer your call, answer all your questions, and can set you up with an appoint with Grant's services directly.
Tidy Transitions is owned by Shelly St. Clair, and is a well run company. Shelly is a lady who would be the Lead mover on the job site, but don't be fooled about it being any lesser service due to her being a lady, because she is a highly capable mover. She is also the best packer I have ever seen. Her moving crew is nearly always on time, has a good equipment set, shows up in uniform, and costs $55/hr per mover for labor, plus truck and material costs. They do offer and honor a Satisfaction Guarantee, and fully compensate immediately if there are any damages. Shelly is a hard worker, and has a proven track record of being very honest. Her company also provides a packing and cleaning service.
Their drawback is that if you only need a two mover crew, Shelly would be one of those two movers, and Shelly is very strong for a lady, capable of moving regular sofas & average furniture, but she's not as strong as big strong man, and so she's not the ideal choice for moving heavier than normal furniture over stairs or railings. Her equipment set is also a little lacking on doorway and floor protection.
Shelly has asked AGMC (me, Phil) to help book appointments for her, so if you call A Great Moving Crew (Phil) at 541 636-7386 and say you'd like to book an appointment with "Tidy Transitions" or "Shelly", AGMC will reliably answer your call, answer your questions, and can set you up with an appoint with Shelly's services directly.
WDA MOVERS
Owned by Vic & Loni, WDA is one of the better FULL SERVICE LARGE moving companies in Eugene that I know of. Their main drawback is that they don't have a Satisfaction Guarantee on their service, they're a bit spendy, and they only have a "60 pennies per pound of a damaged item" damage policy. But other than that, these guys have a reputation for being skilled, reliable. They charge the standard rates in Eugene for a full service moving company, which is $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck, plus another $60.70/hr per extra man. Overtime hours cost $203.25 per hour for two men and a truck, plus $84/hr per extra man. On Sundays & Holidays they're $248.05 per hour for two men and a truck. plus $106.50/hr per extra man. These rates start and end at the company's terminal, meaning their charged clock begins when they leave their warehouse, and ends when they arrive back at their warehouse after your job. Boxing supplies are an additional cost. Unless you pay more for damage-loss insurance, the above rates only come with a damage-loss coverage of sixty (60) cents per pound for the actual weight of any lost or damaged article.

RIVERS MOVING
Owned by Zac Rivers. Zac has been doing moving work as a laborer for many years, but is brand new to AGMC's list as a moving company, so little is known about them so far, other than that Zac is an upstanding guy personally. My impression is that he's lacking doorway and floor protection. For labor only they are $55/hr per man, with a two hour minimum, along with you paying about another $70 for the day use of a small rental truck, + reimbursement at cost for whatever gas and moving supplies are used. They offer a Satisfaction Guarantee, and they start and stop their clock at your job sites in the Eugene/Springfield area.
Zac has asked AGMC (me, Phil) to help book appointments for him. If you call A Great Moving Crew (Phil) at 541 636-7386 and say you're interested in booking an appointment with "Rivers Moving" or "Zac", AGMC will reliably answer your call, answer all your questions, and can set you up with an appoint with Zac's services if you'd like.
ELITE RELOCATION SERVICES
They're a big FULL SERVICE company that also does long distance moves. Mostly good reviews, But no Satisfaction Guarantee, and that matters when something goes wrong. They have some skilled movers there, but they also have a mix of skill levels of who they sometimes send to your job. They charge $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck, plus another $60.70/hr per extra man. Overtime hours cost $203.25 per hour for two men and a truck, plus $84/hr per extra man. On Sundays & Holidays they're $248.05 per hour for two men and a truck. plus $106.50/hr per extra man. These rates start and end at the company's terminal, so you are paying for that extra drive time. Boxing supplies are an additional cost. Unless you pay more for additional damage-loss insurance, the above rates only come with a damage-loss coverage of sixty (60) cents per pound for the actual weight of any lost or damaged article. The owner is Shawn Jones, a top notch very experienced mover.
You can call them directly at 541 246-5256. Please let them know Phil at AGMC referred you if you call them.
or go to their website at: https://www.eliterelocationservices.com/
This company is very new to AGMC's listing site, and is a mixed bag. The owner David Priest is a long experienced mover, their rates are good, and most of his customers report being happy with his service. However, they don't always honor a satisfaction guarantee, don't show up in uniform, don't have consistent workers, don't always pay what they owe, and once in a while David has been reported to have a smell of alcohol on his breath and really upset customers in the way David speaks to them, according to a few of his customers. They're also a bit of an unknown to AGMC as far as their record of being on time, what equipment they provide, and their actual skills at moving, although they might be just fine.
They charge $55 per man-hour with a two hour minimum for labor, plus you'd be paying a separate U-Haul truck rental & packing materials expense if you need any of those. I have no information about their policies or insurance coverage, and it's my impression that they would have a hard time paying for any significant damages out-of-pocket at this time.
David has asked AGMC to help arrange appointments for him, so as long as you don't hold AGMC (or me, Phil) responsible for any problems you may have with David's company (& remember I told you so), if you have more questions, or want to book David's services, you can call Phil AGMC at 541 636-7386, and say that you're interested in booking "Sunny Dispositions" or "David's services".
MEATHEAD MOVERS
Meathead Movers is a FULL SERVICE company that officially has a Satisfaction Guarantee. I have heard indirectly (through the grape-vine) that they don't always honor it though. Their reviews are mostly good, but their biggest drawback is that they use U of O student movers, which means those students are not long time career moving professionals trained for years in their craft. They use "college kids". This can waste time, and increases risks of problems. These rates start and end at the company's terminal. Unless you pay more for damage-loss insurance, the above rates only come with a damage-loss coverage of sixty (60) cents per pound for the actual weight of any lost or damaged article.

HESPEN ENTERPRISES
Owned by Steve Hespen. This Labor Only company usually works with nearly the best truck loader and most skilled mover in the entire moving industry, named Ron, pictured here. This company is so far down the list only because Steve is having medical issues at this time and is unlikely to be available for a while. Steve & Ron are a two man team that you'd reliably get if you book this company's services. For labor only they are $55/hr per man, with a two hour minimum, along with you paying about another $70 for the day use of a small rental truck, + reimbursement for whatever gas and supplies are used. They work seven days a week, same price on Saturdays & Sundays. They offer a Satisfaction Guarantee, and they start and stop their clock at your job sites. They aren't so good at being on time.
Steve is often not available to answer calls, and has asked AGMC to help book appointments for him. So if you call A Great Moving Crew (at 541 636-7386) and ask for Steve's services (or Hespen Enterprises), AGMC will reliably answer your call, and can set you up with an appoint with Steve's services directly. But if you want to call Steve directly, his number is 541 870-0148.
CASCADE MOVING & LOGISTICS
They have OK reviews online, but they have no Satisfaction Guarantee. When you book them online you have to pick how many hours you are reserving their services for, and how are you suppose to know how long you'd need them, and what if you guess too high or too low?
They charge $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck, plus another $60.70/hr per extra man. Overtime hours cost $203.25 per hour for two men and a truck, plus $84/hr per extra man. Movinghelp.com is a U-Haul affiliate website that provides a listing and booking-help service (a bit like this web-page). When you go to their website and type in the date you want service, their website will automatically pull off all company names that are not available on your chosen date, saving you from wasting time looking at companies that are not available anyway. There are both good and bad movers on this site (even AGMC is listed on that site), so you have to look closely at the reviews. When you book a company on this website, you can only book labor only services, so you'd also need to book, pay for, and drive a U-Haul truck yourself. All these companies have their own different labor-only rates as posted on that site.
If you do book on this site, you prepay the site for your chosen number of labor hours, and that site only pays your moving-help crew if they turn in a six digit "payment-code" number that you only give to the crew after the job is done if you are satisfied with their job.
However, I have had a number of customers tell me that the company called I-Haul on that site has cheated on their reviews by stopping customers from being able to leave a bad review after causing big problems with the customers, so I would stay away from I-Haul even though their reviews make them look good.
You can't call this open market listing service to book appointments, you can only book through their website. Here's a link to this site.
BACKSAVERS
This is a Full Service state-wide moving company with no Satisfaction Guarantee. There's such a mix of movers that this company subcontracts jobs out to that there's a very wide range of the quality of movers who might show up at your door, from OK to not so good. The team you get might be fine, but there is this wild card element. I can say this company cheated me (didn't pay me for a job) when I was just a free-lance moving helper many years back for no reason but that they thought they could get away with it. The owner Josh has a reputation among other movers as being an unethical person.
They charge $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck, plus another $60.70/hr per extra man. Overtime hours cost $203.25 per hour for two men and a truck, plus $84/hr per extra man. THE REST OF THE MOVING COMPANIES THAT SERVICE EUGENE
The rest of these below listed moving companies have relatively more reported problems compared to the other above listed companies, and they have no SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, so in my opinion, should be considered only as a last resort if the above listed companies aren't available. One common complaint I've heard from customers about several of them is that at the very last minute the company needed to "cancel" leaving the customer hanging without help.
They all charge $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck, plus another $60.70/hr per extra man. This one is at the very bottom of the list on purpose. I have just heard too many bad things about this company from several different customers who used them, largely involving a misrepresentation of the end resulting price, "missing" items, and poor work. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.
